Logic Pro App Reviews

Was Great….

I use the app all the time. I absolutely loved it until this new version. In certain sessions that were created prior to this version when you click the change channel strip button it causes Logic to lock up and the spinning rainbow wheel of death just spins and spins and you have to force quit Logic and it doesn’t even give you the option to send a crash report. I’m glad they fixed the loading bar though.

Houston We Have a Serious Problem!

Man I sure hope you guys come around to fixing this issue of “system overload” with a basic 2 vocal track with no effects with 2 piano tracks and 1 bass track. That’s 5 tracks with very minimal to no effects. I froze all tracks in efforts to get rid of the “system overload” from interrupting my work flow every 3 seconds surprisingly with no success. My mac specs are up to par above the average with a couple of recent upgrades and it worked well with no issues before this update and boy do I regret updating. PLEASE, I Do Not Wanto to go Back to Ableton, but this is unreal and unacceptable. It is virtually impossible to get anything done and that for it to be an apple product man, I dunno. Other then this current situation I love Logic Pro X, I switched over from Ableton which to many seemed like a downgrade but to me was the best choice and workflow ever and now that’s gone. Please don’t let this be the last time I upgrade anything "Apple".

10.2.1 Crashes Often

I have loved using Logic Pro for years, but this new 10.2.1 update has left me with the worst performing version of Logic I’ve ever experienced. Sessions crash every 5-10 minutes and this morning I can’t even open the session I was working on yesterday before I get the spinning rainbow wheel of death. Please fix!

WHY!!

It wasn’t perfect before but it was working pretty good… now i have Audio regions vanishing when i punch out.. they still didn’t fix the Flex pitch issue with gritty audio.. 9 was just so much more stable.. I want to go back to that but I’m used to all the new features of 10 now… smh..

The New Retina-Optimized Interfaces Are A Disgrace

Seriously, I’d hoped for more. The release notes claimed that the UI’s for 30 plugins had been updated for Retina support, and they have been… but they’re all basically the same interface, same graphic elements, don’t match any of the other plugin UI’s, and look like they were begrudgingly designed in about five minutes to get complainers off their back. Ugly. I seriously hope this doesn’t speak to a new look for Logic. Please guys, put some effort into the next refresh, okay?

Was great. Now? Not so much.

Where to begin….. After being a satisfied LP9 user, and loving LPX until the last updates, I’m uphauled by this DAW’s performance, as of late. All the key commands were altered from their default presets and the key command editor won’t recognized modifiers. MIDI data constantly moves to the wrong sections of a track, and introduces this annoying import tempo pop-up every time you want to insert something. No, Logic. I’m not interested in changing the tempo of my project for the sake of inserting loops into the project. It really is a remarkable DAW when properly caliberated, and if they can continue adding features without screwing up the platform, I’m all for it. Until then, you might want to wait for a decent update before you decide to make the purchase.

Don’t upgrade!!!

I can’t even work now - 10.2.1 is crashing every 5 minutes. There are new bugs that I’ve never seen before that are making the program inoperable. I turned a few Slit tracks into Interleaved, and now the session won’t stay open for more than 5 minutes. I can’t move the playback head, when I want to go to bar 33, Logic plays form bar 14, every time I open it there are a new set of bugs.

Crashes on Start-up

I’ve used Logic since version 1.8 (circa 1993). This has been my go-to DAW for over 20 years. But somehow, it has gotten off track. I hate to say it because it has been a great piece of software for so long. But now, I can’t get past the spash screen without it crashing. I’ve gone back to version 9. It performs perfectly, fortunately.

Why did i download the 10.2.1 update

for some reason none of my note start on the one when i record theyre always delayed until it loops around…the system keeps on overloading for some reason…its messed up my whole work flow….when ever i play it never hits on the one its always a delay until it loops around can you gys please fix this

New update causes virtual static

I love Logic X but after the most recent update; all of the songs I have been working on have static at high volume even if I pause the song. I’m curious if anyone else is having this issue as it makes the program unusable.

I love Logic Pro x!

Actually I have been using Logic Pro X for one year and a half month now. I don’t know why people complain about crashes in newer version. It works perfectly for me. just update and space more ur mac to improve most utilities since it seems not te be the DAWs issues.

I enjoy this program very much!

Composing in logic is a joy. I write most of my music in logic and mix it in Pro Tools 12. Logic Remote is pretty sweet too, when I’m across the room with a guitar on. All in all… Its a great peice of software that can be utilized by the Extreme Novice to the Studio Pro.

Became Unstable After Update

10.2.0 has a few little quirks that were easy to deal with (like inserting an “Electric Piano” plug-in in place of any Komplete Instruments at random times), and was otherwise a very stable and solid release. But, this update made Logic almost unusable on my system, causing overloads, lagging, and latency issues. Also, recording midi was annoying because the first note is delayed as if the system is catching up with your playing. The Retina upgraded plug-ins were more usable and less mechanical than previous, but didn’t make up for the latency, overload, and unstable platform. Also random file system errors happening here and there. Reverted with Time Machine and all the problems were gone. I wouldn’t update until these issues are taken care of, or have a Time Machine backup before doing it.

Was GREAT...Now Crashes Opening Projects

Logic has been one of the best apps I have ever used, and I feel terrible giving it a single star. But after this update it just crashes while opening my projects, effectively locking me out of the music I have been creating for the last year of my life. This is unacceptable. Please push out any and all fixes are necessary so that we can access the music we have created. And so I can bring that raiting back up...

Amazing

I seen and worked with so many other DAWs and when it comes down to the user interface, I think Logic is one of the best. Not only is it a super clean interface, but it’s extremely intuitive (like OS X for me) and easy to use. Everything seems to make sense and put in the right place. I absolutely love the mixer as well. As of recent, the interface of plugins have been updated which I really like. They look new and prestine. The native plugins on Logic have a great reputation. Once in a while when I move the EQ window while playing my track at the same time there might be a system overload, but it doesn’t bother me so much. I am fond of Logic’s native synths and I especially like the Alchemy Synth, which is a beast of a synth.

What the helll happened?

Upgraded IOS and upgraded latest version of Logic. Stuck on features page. Can’t load previous projects. Don’t download this upgrade!!! Someone F’d up!!!!

It’s good…. But! Warp and pitch sound horrible with loops (artifacts).

Logic Pro X has amazing features but still needs improvement to be 5-Satrs. It has some great Audio Units and much more. This DAW is dedicated to live recording musicians for sure. If you need a DAW for recording your live instrument (guitar, vocals or piano etc;) then it doesn’t get any better than Logic Pro X. If you have a million samples (loops/ wav files, etc...) or DJ and would like on the fly controls, then I would suggest Ableton Live over Logic Pro X. Logic Pro X has a great audio engine which makes your music sound tight and clean compared to other DAW’s in comparison. It’s not as user freindly compared to other DAW’s but its not as difficult as others as well You have to search in sub menus for everything. If your a GarageBand user then Logic Pro X is a must and worth the upgrade. Alchemy is F— AWESOME!!! Logic looks amazing in every way especially with my 5k iMac. For the price… Logic Pro X is a no brainer, a must have for any musician with an instrument. Thanks Apple for a great DAW!!! WISH LIST to make Logic and unbeatable DAW. (This could be the all in one DAW buttttttt): -On and OFF Key Signature feature. (some loops sound horrible with so many artifacts when pitched). -More Loop based workflow. (Hint Hint… Ableton style auditioning tempo sync of audio sampled files). Having over 1TB of audio files and samples, one would like to audition on tempo more seamlessly. Then drag, drop and move on… -Better anglorithms and artifact manipulation when pitch and time stretching of audio files. (hint hint: Ableton sample warp mode to help sample sound more natural) -Audio track: quicker and better way to change pitch of a single audio region on a single track vs so much editing needed to do the same process. (hint hint: Ableton style on the fly pitch knob with tempo sync of the region). -Better File browser for samples. (more organized file view) -Older Audio units (EXS 24, ES 2 and others) look pixelated on iMac 5k and are hard to see. -Updated sound banks for older Audio Units/effects -Themes for Logic Pro X would help change mood and insperational feel. -More presets for Arpeggiator and other Audio Units/ plugins. -Trance Gate pluggin.

Great… but needs minor improvements

Great app. Works just fine on my very, very old iMac. The only thing is that these plugins all blend together, and a few minor changes would work wonders. For example, as the limiter is related to the compressor, it could maybe have a metal texture and some different knobs. Same with other plugins. I myself could do this in about 30 minutes, tops. This would be great, but I am perfectly OK with this DAW in the state it currently is in. Keep working at the plugin interfaces, and some new features, and this DAW would be perfect. (Not that its not good as of now!)

SO BAD

I have to use Logic for school so it’s my “no choice but have to DAW”. It is extremely buggy. The editing tools are terrible. Apple has the tendency to “over-help” the user. Logic tries to “fix” problems or help with editing. The accuracy in editing is horrid. The snap isn’t so “smart” when engaged. Good luck trying to use it with “non-complyable" interfaces like AVID. Flex is low quality. Good luck trying to use the “File” edit window. The only reason I’ll remotely use Logic in any way is it’s virtual instruments… I was happy when Alchemy was introduced. Apple needs to partner up with some actual intelligent companies who know what they are doing. I’m sick and tired of it’s cheapness in editing. I have to export all my tracks so I can edit them in Pro Tools. My advice is to look elsewhere for a DAW. You are basically getting an over-glorified version of Garage Band. Please, I beg of you, save yourself and get a better DAW, it’s worth it.

Latest Update is amazing!!

First I want to thank you Apple for the latest update that brought huge UI improvements and updates. It has made creating music much more of a pleasure. Im glad you are caring for us musc creators. This new update fixed a bunch of bugs I previously had. There is just one thing I am worried about. I use 3rd Party plug-ins from Native Instruments, and sometimes these plugins randomely turn off and the preset is gone. This is so nervewrecking to me since every detail I add to my music has a purpose and is very crucial. Please Apple, look into that more. Other than that, I love you Apple and keep innovating and bringing us improvements.
