Pleasantly surprised

Just got Logic 10. Much improved over Logic 9. Very much like Garageband (on purpose I suspect) so it was easy to begin recording out of the box but, unlike Garageband, the tools are far more robust. I look forward to learning and using Logic in future.

Exporting

It’s an amazing program, everything works great and quite easy to figure out if you moved from garageband. the only problem i have is when i export my music to iTunes, the whole program crashes and can’t export

Absolutely brilliant update, and an incredibly generous offering compared to many other DAWs

It is time to move on from what Logic was 6 years ago, folks. The inclusion of Alchemy is Genius, and justifies the price in and of itself. Hating a bargain like this because you expect operating systems from half a decade ago to be fully functioning with all the updates in technology, plugin support is a waste of time. This beast just reached maturity, and sure as a few issues, but this is the biggest statement an Audio developer has made in years. I have spent close to 2 grand in 3rd party synths this past year, and ALL OF THEM just got blown out of the water by a work of genius that only a true synth snob would dream of turning their nose up at because…”It’s a Rompler, not a synth!” Alchemy is so much more than a Rompler and I could not be happier that Apple finally got this deal done...

Excellent update!

Alchemy is a fantastic addition. Thank you!

Thank you to developers.

Thank you to eveyone who worked on this latest version. It installed without a hitch (all content) and is running ok. Beautifull piece of work. A great empty canvas waiting for any picture you care to paint. Patrick

Insanely great.

You just cannot conceive what a good kit Logic X is these days. Alchemy is an utterly awesome synth that sounds so gorgeous I don’t know why I’d ever use another synth. You can play for ever with the morphing and it just gets to be the absolute most flexible synth instrument you can imagine. Overall Logic X is an insane deal for the money you pay and the updates you get… my hats off to Apple, this is the best product they have.

DO NOT UPDATE YET

Hey everyone. Just updated and looked to view a session I was working on. This was super important because it was a track I needed to finish to submit to a contest. But…. when I loaded it up, my expensive vst plugins would not load up any more. I was screwed… I wish there was a warning or something. Please someone let me know if I can go back to the last version. But, knowing apple, this is probably not possible.

Be Careful!!

I’m currently using version 10.1 of Logic Pro X and it’s great. I intend to upgrade to 10.2 but, a word of caution based on past experience. If you currently have any projects underway, I’d recommend holding off before upgrading due to the possibility of not being able to open your projects in the new version or to have them crippled by missing plugins or software instruments. If you’re feeling brave, at least do a full Time Machine backup before you upgrade so you can put things back the way they were. I fully intend to upgrade but I will be backing up my system as I’ve been burned before. Once I’ve had a chance to assess version 10.2 I will update this review. I felt it necessary to write this as Apple never seems to warn people about possible issues caused by upgrading. Update: September 14, 2015. I did the update and all went well. Nothing seems to have been broken and all my old projects load properly. There are, however, some huge downloads to be done after the fact including samples and additional files mainly for the Alchemy synth. Alchemy is great, by the way…it could easily replace all your other synths but you’d better have a high end machine to run it as it can be very processor intensive. I have a fairly recent MacBook Pro/Retina with a quad core i7 and Alchemy was consistently maxing out one of the cores on a lot of the preset patches. Gonna have to wait until I go to the big city and get some high speed Internet before I can download all the rest of the samples but there’s enough to get going on and you can load your own as well. A very worthy upgrade IMHO.

Fantastic!

No issues whatsoever with this version. It has been absolutely fantastic so far. I’m still learning this software (beginner), and I am finding the learning curve a bit steep. But that is an issue with me, not the software. It was a bit difficult to find support for this version without having to turn to YouTube or to online forums, but I was able to eventually find some official documentation after being pointed in the right direction from other users (.pdf files), which has been of great assistance.

Bugs that cost you time and money

I was hoping they’d cleared all the bugs in this latest update, but nope. I just fired Logic up to find that on some 2 mic stuff I recorded days ago, the second mic’s audio is all gone. How could I have erased it by itself? The channels are linked, so either everything in both channels would get erased or none of it. So it wasn’t something I did. Just ANOTHER APPLE GLITCH! Luckily it was myself that I recorded, and I can spend this afternoon REDOING it when I’ve got better things to do, but at least I don’t have to bring someone else back in to the studio.

Very Angry with Logic Right Now

I’m a busy person with very little time to sit down and compose. Sometimes I only get a few minutes in a month. Inspiration struck today and I had about 10 minutes. When I opened logic, it started download a bunch of content I DON’T want (I work dominantly with external MIDI) and refused to let me cancel it. Thanks for screwing me over, Apple. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Something Apple usually does MUCH better than Microsoft is to get out of your way and let you work. Today, Apple did its best to get in my way. Very, very disapointed.

very good but...

Logic is working really well and the included plugins sound great. the one major problem i have found is that the guitar tab writer doesnt corespond with how guitar sheet music is written. guitar uses treble -8 and the guitar tab makes it just treble. will go to five stars when this is fixed.Edit Still not fixed. its impossible to create propper tabs on here which is a pain when other guitarists your working on can’t read music or if you need to quickly figure out how to esialy play more then one section of a piano piece at the same time. will update to th e 5 stars the rest of the application deserves when this is fixed

Ruined Performance

The New Logic Pro X 10.2 update was a God Send. Everything was working well and i loved the redesigned plugins and inclusion of Alchemy. Then this 10.2.1 update came along and now for some reason my Disk I/O meter keeps spiking up like crazy and it System Overloads my project by just playing a simple mono .wav recording. It doesnt matter what i do to my buffer size or how i optomize my setting. The only thing i truly do know is that ever since i updated it to 10.2.1 i noticed my my Disk I/O meters is acting up a lot more and crashing it all the time. I work as an engineer and it pretty much has rendered my computer useless now when i’m trying to record someone. Apple needs to fix this issue, but for now, it looks like i’m going back to 10.2

Update breaks Logic Pro

I have a common issue with 10.2.1 in that it causes system overloads. I wont go into the details as its already covered by many others. Apple, with respect, can you please not mess around with our music software - we work with this tool and can’t afford problems. we also rely on you to give us good quality products. I would prefer to see more attention paid to bug fixes, stability and performance than features. Logic has enough features - we don’t need anymore. Please make Logic stable and smooth to work with. I can not use 10.2.1 and had to roll back to 10.2.

heavy on cpu

my system is overloading and freezing from last update

Great app, great update… BUT performance is taking a hit

Read the title… I use this app all day every day and love it.. But 10.2.1 has caused some major reductions in performance. I’m hoping 10.2.2 will fix this.

Crashing Issue

Was working on a sweet tune when logic overloads & crashes. Lost it. No backup on record. Great features, but until this frequent crashing issue is fixed; I do not recommend updating to 10.2.1

It’s so broken now...

Been using Logic for 8+ years, Certified Pro/Apple Genius, but this update just disappoints. It’s been rendered useless and after many hours of troubleshooting I’m left hopeless. Don’t do this upgrade if you need it for work.

READ THE REVIEWS, FIX LOGIC!

The previous version was beautiful, after updating to this version, hoping and thinking it would bring me stability improvements and bla bla bla although not many were needed, it brought me the exact opposite of improvements! My Logic pro X overloads everytime I press the play button! I Need this program to work im shaping my future with it right now! PLEASE FIX THIS!!
