Automation

Mix Automation needs to be (finally) repaired . This makes 4 stars only.

3rd party plugins are failing validation with a FATAL ERROR

Features and Fix request

please add: - ability to search for tracks - ability to “isolate” two or more tracks and temporary hide all the others (a sort of highlight) - custom workspace management (detachable and resizable windows at least!) - better way to edit multiple midi regions via piano roll - a way to read music when recording - FIX volume automation that doesn’t catch the previous points - edit only what is on focus! It happens a lot of times that once I selected a track the piano roll brings me to another region that is not currently on the screen! thank you

Logic pro X 10.3

Great Release from Apple! True Stereo Pan, Track Alternatives and Selection-Based Processing (I wish it could be selected for midi as well) are my favourite new features! LOGIC PRO X DEVELOPING TEAM, I really you could come up with these new features for further updates: - finishing the process of a new Gui for Logic Pro X stock plugins - it’s time for a new GUI for Logic Instruments such as Es2, Exs24 and Ultrabeat: we’re in 2017 man! We need a new GUI - A simpler audio quantizing option for live instruments that doesn’t sound fake (see Beat Detective Workflow in Pro Tools to get what i mean): Great for editing live drums! - Better quality a more realistic amps and pedals for guitar and bass (man we’re still in 2017 and the competition for Amp sims it’s really high! Also “new” pedals and amps are now classics, so come on Apple! That being said i love Logic Pro X and it’s my home for creating but i just wish good luck and hope to see Logic Pro X Team at work to maybe come up with some o all the features that i explained and that many around the internet have requested! Peace

Interface changes bothered me at first

Apple is always striving for simplified, easy-to-use interfaces and Logic just got the treatment. I personally found the darker theme more palatable and would like to see more emulation of physical hardware - not less. Of course there’s a lot more than that going on with this update and Logic remains the best DAW at this price point, in my opinion.

Cool new features. ANNOYING new bug.

Not sure if anyone has this problem on other computers, but on my new Macbook Pro 15” w/ Touchbar: When currently playing a song, you scroll right or left on the arrangement timeline and the audio distorts. Hope this gets fixed ASAP. Otherwise, Love the new features. New UI looks a little wonky, but more legible.

Great update; I have some problems with the font.

Most of the new updates are great - the stereo panning works beautifully, and I can actually notice a veeeery slight difference between the 32 bit and 64 bit summing, which is pretty incredible. My only problem is the font - it’s very difficult for me to read, and it’s frustrating that I can’t change the font without having to actually go in and edit the list of all the parameters. I would love options to customize the GUI in the future, even down to the overal color scheme. Other than that, few complaints. I will continue to be a proud user of Logic, and I admire the time and effort Apple puts into improving this product.

A bit too cartoonish… but absolutely minimalistic

I have a macbook pro 2015 which means I don’t have a touchbar. Recent Logic Pro X updates were all about the touchbar support feature so I didn’t expect too much about this update as well. However, the entire interface has been changed. It’s a bit cartoon-ish like iOS has changed couple of years ago but in general, I think it’s more straightforward and minimalistic. Because of this, the program itself looks a bit less professional but other than that, it’s very minimal and beautiful. I just need a little more time to get used to this new look :) + It also has a less black-ish and more gray-ish background so I don’t have to make it so bright to see it clear. It’s less modern-ish, but provides a better vision overall.

Great new features, but the new UI is kind of bad.

I liked the old UI a lot better because it looked professional. The new UI looks like it’s more suited for kids.

C’mon Apple...

Please…can we have control of what the GUI looks like? Even the choice of 10-20 skins? Everytime I get used to this, you force me to go with what you think “worx” next… I just want to be able to make it my own and have the choice to keep it that. How about more chasing Studio One & Ableton features also… Steve please come back.

Love the new design

Since the introduction of Logic X the inetrface keeps getting better and this one is no exception.

Awesome

I started with GarageBand then through school was moved to Logic Pro X. Absolutely love it. Saved me a bunch on Studios and fees for studios. Once I got it down, music was unstoppable.

Very unsatisfied with the new look.

I love the DAW, but the new look is ridiculous. I simply feel like I’m working with a child’s toy. When working with sophistocated software we all want it to look appropriate. This new look is juvenile, and just makes me feel like it’s made for my kids, not me. This is not an improvement, but a drastic setback for Logic Pro, and may drive me back to Sonar, which looks and feels pro. This new look - Terrible.

Love the new UI, bug fixes, and Pro feature additions!

Been a constant user since the very first Logic Studio (version 8), and haven’t looked back at Pro Tools since. You can make great art, and get a lot of production work done in any DAW. But this one makes me feel like a creator. It inspires me to wake up in the morning and gets me excited to actually make music. It gets out of the way and lets whatever I have inside me through to get recorded. That is the true measure of any tool for a creative person. Logic Pro X is why I am making music today, and if it wasn’t around, I wouldn’t need a computer any more. I want to thank Apple for keeping this going, and making it a priority to keep advancing these tools that make this world a better place.

New Update 10.3

I use both Pro Logic X and Final Cut Pro X, love them both and they run fluidly on my iMac 27. I updated my Pro Logic last night and did a spit-take with my coffee when it opened this morning. It harkened back to the horrible Windows days when the system was in safety mode. Where is my elegant and inspiring Logic Pro ?? I franticly looked for a way to customize back to the previos look but found nothing. It looks like learning software for a 4 year old. I know there are great improvements, I can actually hear it… but are they kidding. I recently traveled to do some guitar work at another studio that was using Bitwig, I couldn’t stop making fun of the way it looked and I think I was being irritating. Well Karma has struck. What’s happening to Apple, they were innovators not followers. Logic Pro now looks like every other DAW. I know this sounds petty but why the stark look ? Resources? 16GB of RAM… can’t I have 3D buttons ?? And the transport controls with the Christmas green play button…. Straight out of the Crayola box. And one more thing on resources… Apple just overhauled the look of Final Cut Pro X and it looks even better…. for video editing???? So why would audio be different, I would think it was less burdensome to the computer.

This version finally fixed a big flaw for my workflow

Logic designers, not sure if you see this but if you do thank you for fixing the two finger swiping of the timeline while dragging an audio piece by pressing down on the touchpad with a thumb. I used this feature all of the time when editing hours of dialog for online training modules. The swiping and pinching and zooming of the timeline in Logic is what makes it so much better than Audition for me. I have tried many audio editors and Logic just has the fastest workflow for editing dialog. I do notice that when you hit the beginning or end of the project and the inertial scrolling “bounces” off the end it drops frames in the animation and seems to stutter. This doesnt happen when just two finger swiping. It just happens when you are two finger swiping while dragging something with the thumb. If you could improve the responsiveness there to make it feel faster that would be perfect. Like another reviewer said the sound quality seems to be a little clearer to me after mixdown and the new interface looks great. People who call it cartoonish should look at Ableton which is probably closer to a Logic competitor than ProTools is. I was thinking about leaving Mac and Logic because of the swiping issue but I am a happy customer again. For the next big release focus on improving the guitar amp and effects modeling. Buy out Scuffham or one of the smaller modeling companies and incorporate their stuff like you did with Alchemy. Also allow us to publish for the Mac version of GarageBand. I have friends I want to collaborate with remotely but they don’t want to purchase Logic and I don’t want to downgrade to GarageBand myself.

unsure

im not sure how i feel about the new UI. i LOVE it and i HATE it. the graphic look is GREAT. but it feels too much like Garage Band…which is kind of toy. it been mentioned that you should offer skins. rather than that, i think color THEMES would be great. i would really like this UI to be darker. Logic is awesome….its just another change. we will all get used to it. we always do. i used to LOVE the light grey design for Logic 9. now i look at it and really cant fathom how i liked that one. onward and upward. COLOR THEMES please introduce that. 3-5 versions….would be great.

More Intuitive than others, UI easy to understand

I was trying to learn Studio One v3, but my friend was using Logic Pro X and I tried it out and it seemed much easier for a beginner.

EMOJI INTERFACE!!

The new interface is nicer when it’s brightened up, but I will admit: I like the old style better. This one reminds me of emojis, but in the end, it works the same as the last version, only better. So, it’s worth the update! ***DID I MENTION NO MORE CLIPPING?!!!***

Not impressed and very disappointed

I appreciate the new features but we need to complain about this color scheme. I myself and others liked the dark theme ,fonts and icons I know theres alwways room for improvment but this wasnt it. not feeling it at all .ableton has been doing a better job at a flat Ui for a while now ,and at least they give you the option to change your UI with different skins, also those fonts are horrible. making a decision without no other UI option is just not right. Im looking at something thats not inspiring for me hours at a time daily . its really difficult, just because they say its better in darker environments. really?. and really those colors arent new colors just shades of the same colors. Cubase has been doing it for sometime now so i find it hard to believe they couldn’t incorporate some of those basic features. feels like a step backwarrds. They need to step it up. the other DAWs are way farther ahead. I feel like Logic is always trying to catch up. especially when you look at final cut pro looks amazing., this update looks like a toy not what i would expect from a Pro Level Product. very disappointed I expect more from apple and the logic team, hope they’re listening.
