Angry

For whatever reason my macbook pro isn’t allowing me to download the update and I’m becoming extremely upset with Apple. I don’t know if I’m the only one this has happened to, but this needs to be fixed!

Another Big fail For Apple I would rate zero stars if I could.

A lot of us make our living with these tools. was very happy with older version. Being forced to do total upgrades is a big fail. its not simple. second this is not a stable piece of software it is very alpha. Not ready for primetime. I am very Very unhappy with apple right now and am activily making plans to get away from apple completley if the situation with their quality does not improve 1000% in 2017 as we have a big hardware upgrade coming at the studio this year.

Crashing while bouncing in place and freezing tracks!

So I’ve been a Logic user for years, and it’s always been my go-to DAW. I find it incredibly easy to navigate, and it’s very user-friendly. My frustration with this new update is that somehow, Bouncing In Place and Freezing tracks “freezes” all functions. Not only does it not complete the bouncing or freezing, it also freezes everything. I am no longer able to play, stop, record, perform from any tracks, and I’m forced to Force Quit. Having easily hundreds of VSTs, synths, and sample libraries loaded in my sessions and templates, it is a PAIN IN THE YOUKNOWWHAT to have to take the insane amount of time to reload everything over and over again. PLEASE FIX THIS SITUATION - I AM USUALLY ON A DEADLINE AND THIS IS CAUSING A HUGE SETBACK!

Revert back to version 10.2 IF….

If you are like me and do not care for the the new Logic Pro X 10.3 cartoon, child like, etc look, you can revert back to the previous version 10.2.4 IF you make a backup copy BEFORE you upgrade to the new version. Read the article on Apple’s website by searching for article: HT202992 in the Support page search bar. By the way, in an unrelated note, Logic Pro X is pronounced Logic Pro “10” NOT “X” as in X,Y,Z. Its roman numerical X as in VIII, IX, X. This is a fact and not just my opinion. I am Apple Certified in Logic. Thanks and hope this helps.

Major Performance Issues

For me as a student this update is very disappointing. Ive been having major troubles with bouncing audio and warped artifacts in my projects. My mac shouldnt need to turn its fans on or get hpt when rendering and bouncing audio. Overall the app needs major performance updates.

Great value, totally worth the purchase!

I had my heart set on other more expensive DAWs, however, I’m finding my music creation and production experience to be quite enjoyable! The inclusion of Alchemy made a huge difference. The newer tool skins seem to help, the older ones still REALLY REALLY need to be replaced (*nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink). Many of the older synths and drum machines aren’t set up as intuitively as I’d like. I’m hoping Apple plans to overhaul or replace them. Some of the documents need an update also, only being available in a web browser or just not being exhaustive (Hint; generate ibooks and pdfs of them all including the alpha/beta documents on changed/new instruments). There are excellent youtube videos out there to learn how to use the DAW, if you find a few that seem amatuerish keep searching! Make sure you download all available sound libraries: Logic Pro X > Sound Library > Download All Available Sounds. Also enable advance mode or you’ll be missing half the buttons, options, and tools you see in any tutorial video you watch: Logic Pro X > Preferences > General > Advance > Show Advanced Tools > Enable All. An important NOTE, if you look at the “View” and “Window” dropdown menu’s most of the options in there will help you to toggle the various panes and tools on and off. CMD K will open the virtual keyboard once you’ve loaded a software instrument (click the little keyboard icon if you dont own a midi keyboard, this will enable you to play with your computer keyboard). The inspector button (on the upper left in the toolbar a circle with an i in it) will display the active track and the loaded instrument (click this in case it disappears and you cant find it). In the track area of the screen if you cant hear your audio output chances are the red R (arm the track for recording) button hasn’t been pressed, or you’ve hit the M or S buttons in the same area. M mutes that track and S solos that track. If you’ve clicked the S button on another instrument the currently selected instrument will be unheard. In the Track area just to the right of the instrument you can click on the numbered measures bar to make a yellow bar appear, which you can then resize to create a looping area. NOTE: I’ve included the tips because once you move up the learning curve just a bit and get past the initial frustrations the rest of the Logic Pro X experience is generaly smooth sailing and VERY enjoyable. Its FUN and a GREAT escape! I give the value 5 stars, I give the daw 4-4.5 stars because of some of its older tools/instruments, the sample library is useable, although not stellar. I suspsect everyone will have different sample tastes anyway.

Update never completes

I click ‘Update’ and the wheel spins, and spins, and spins. Yet, I get nothing. Where do the updates go? I searched my computer many times and cannot find 10.3 anywhere. Apparently, my Logic Pro remote app needs my computer to have 10.3 in order to run. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

OVERLOAD

i hope you addresse too THE OVERLOAD ISSUE!!!

DAW of choice for now...

I like to describe Logic Pro as a musician’s DAW…I think this DAW has the MOST extensive stock instrument library of all of the DAWs on the market and most, if not all of the samples can stand up against most 3rd party samples (they could add a Jazz guitar though and the strings, brass and current guitars could use an update for sound and options for expressiveness). If you are getting started, it is a great DAW with pretty much any plugin you can think of for mixing your songs and getting great results. I do use 3rd party plugins for mixing most of the time but before I did that, I was using Logic plugins, most of which are pretty good once you master them. I’m so glad it has a TRUE pan knob now as opposed to the Direction Mixer. That was huge. The ONLY things I have complaints about now is the crashing periodically AND the fact that whenever there is an overload OR I need to reload my pre-amp interface, some of my plugin settings get reset or changed. THAT is super annoying. I am going to log a support ticket to Apple about this because it is extremely frustrating when you spend time on a mix only find that some of the mixing decisions you made have been reset during some phase of the project. I find that although I like using the stock Channel EQ because of the analyzer, I think that is uses too much CPU so I end up using the Waves Q10 or REQ6. I’m giving it a 4 but I would give it a 5 if not for the random plugin resets. -Wrightbrained aka DruDilly

love, but can’t update

great app, love using it, but I CANNOT seem to be able to update it.

I can’t update to 10.3.1

I love working in Logic, but for some reason I can’t update to 10.3.1….

Love Logic Pro

I started wtih many different DAW’s but it once I used Logic Pro 9…. I never looked back. I love Logic Pro and I really hope that they’re around for many years to come. User friendly and the fact that you can record, produce, mix and master all in one place is great. Thanks apple. Great product

Great…when it works

I have been using Logic for years and I love it but this last update (when I was finally able to install it) has been a headache for me. Its always crashing and saying I don’t have enough space or the disk is too slow. I’ve never had this issue with previous versions. I can’t even finish a project because its always crashing. This is very annoying.

Logic Anyone?

Logic is like Garageband on meth.

Melhor sequencer de gravacao..best one ever..

FLEX PITCH CRACKLING

Until today, 2016 march, you don’t fix the flex pitch. why? Why a $200 aplicattion for professional user, have this stupid problem? when you will fix it? RIDICULOUS! I cant use it. Come on!!!!!!

"Essential Collection" installation mess

I would have given Logic X 10.2 a full 5-star rating because it is another improvement of an already excellent audio workplace. However, the installation nightmare of this useless Essential Collection cost me half a week of try and error. Before you can even start Logic X for the first time, it tries to download 2 GBytes worth of "Essential Collection" data, asks for the admin password and then crashes no matter what you try and how often you try. Several forum posts show that this bug has been around for over a year. My findings so far: the only way to successfully start Logic X 10.2 is to install it in a completely empty El Capitan environment. If you install any other piece of software beforehand, you inevitably end up in the Essential Collection trap.

Liking it so far

Feels cleaner and faster to use but the same power is still all there when needed. Logic remote iPad app is absoultely worth the upgrade in my books. Now even if I am working alone in the studio I dont have to run back and between mic setup and computer (not that its actually that far) but it just makes recording super fast now and Im making music more of the time. HUGE credit to Apple for developing the app for Logic X

Whatever...

Filters out controller data on playback and theres no way to fix that. Spent hours searching and trying for a solution, with zero results, so into the trash it goes. Ill continue using version 9 for the next few years. Or maybe Ill transfer to a real DAW like ProTools.

It

the upgrade to X from 9 is not worth it for most people. The coulors are very kidish but entertaining, just not at all profesional for my taste, Screenshots will give you a good look so you can decide for yourself, one thing to be warned is you cannot change the colours away from this electro style wherass logic 9 had many colour options. The new features are interesting, but only geared towards new customers it seems. Those who cant sing/drum etc.. in time or pitch will find loads of opertuinity here with all the new tuning and time fixing assistants. But professionals alike may find no use for these toys and worst of all, Many pro features are GONE now! things like: - draging the mouse down on the playhead to zoom has been zapped along with the sliders that where lost after snow leopard. -Caps lock keyboard - gone! only to be re accesed through windows. -chords and the auto chord anylizer for scores are all gone! -Automation will not sync to tempo -EXS24 hangs up frequently now - some bs about RoundRobin sampples was advertised, but exs has always had RoundRobin as a function. I bought some redmatica software too, and now you guys just eat it with no future at all? thats just mean. That company had awesome stuff and now you had to go and make no use of its potential and stop them from future asisting the EXS24. I really do wish I can get a refund, Ive loved logic for 4 full versions, but now its a kids toy and I want someting professional that works. - Good for kids with no deadlines and just want to play - Bad for adults who need to get work done. - with the loss of profesional tools its been 4 years waiting for what turned into an excuse to swtich to digital performer or cubase. logic X is awesome for screwing around, until you try to produce and finish something…
