Very buggy on Sierra
I have been using Logic for years and I couldn’t imagine using any other program. The problem is that since I updated my computer to Sierra it has been very buggy.
Barely a minute goes by without the piano roll editor freezing, not showing changes I am making, or not showing anything. When this happens my only option is to repeatedly close and reopen the piano roll, this crashes the entire program more often than not. Not to mention, often times it will briefly pop the end points of the prvious notes I edited right to where my cursor is while I’m box selecting new notes, selecting the breifly lengthened notes.
Now, I could live with that. What I’m really having issues with is the fact that the controls for every single audio effect (Audio Unit or otherwise), midi effect, and instrument generator. I can’t recall this ever happening on the main interface, but whenever I tweak a value for any effect it resets the property I edited previously to either zero or what it was before I edited it. What this means is that I CAN NOT EDIT MULTIPLE VALUES AT ONCE. The ONLY way to set multiple attributes is to change one, close the effect window, open it again, and repeat for every value that needs changing.
This is beyond frustrating and has been causing me to lose faith in the program for the last while. What is even more infuriating is the fact that Apple hasn’t released an update for the program in HALF A YEAR at the time of me writing this. I thought Logic was supposed to be an industry leader, and for the price I’d expect that the program functioned properly and that Apple would be constantly ridding it of bugs, especially when a new operating system is released that may cause older programs to malfunction. I’m losing faith in this product.
A very good program when it works. But the constant crashes and harsh bugs that interfere with my work it isn’t really worth it.
If you’re looking for a good program for music production, consider looking around a bit more.
