"Essential Collection" installation mess
I would have given Logic X 10.2 a full 5-star rating because it is another improvement of an already excellent audio workplace. However, the installation nightmare of this useless Essential Collection cost me half a week of try and error. Before you can even start Logic X for the first time, it tries to download 2 GBytes worth of "Essential Collection" data, asks for the admin password and then crashes no matter what you try and how often you try. Several forum posts show that this bug has been around for over a year.
My findings so far: the only way to successfully start Logic X 10.2 is to install it in a completely empty El Capitan environment. If you install any other piece of software beforehand, you inevitably end up in the Essential Collection trap.
