Be Careful!!
I’m currently using version 10.1 of Logic Pro X and it’s great. I intend to upgrade to 10.2 but, a word of caution based on past experience. If you currently have any projects underway, I’d recommend holding off before upgrading due to the possibility of not being able to open your projects in the new version or to have them crippled by missing plugins or software instruments. If you’re feeling brave, at least do a full Time Machine backup before you upgrade so you can put things back the way they were. I fully intend to upgrade but I will be backing up my system as I’ve been burned before. Once I’ve had a chance to assess version 10.2 I will update this review. I felt it necessary to write this as Apple never seems to warn people about possible issues caused by upgrading.
Update: September 14, 2015. I did the update and all went well. Nothing seems to have been broken and all my old projects load properly. There are, however, some huge downloads to be done after the fact including samples and additional files mainly for the Alchemy synth. Alchemy is great, by the way…it could easily replace all your other synths but you’d better have a high end machine to run it as it can be very processor intensive. I have a fairly recent MacBook Pro/Retina with a quad core i7 and Alchemy was consistently maxing out one of the cores on a lot of the preset patches. Gonna have to wait until I go to the big city and get some high speed Internet before I can download all the rest of the samples but there’s enough to get going on and you can load your own as well. A very worthy upgrade IMHO.
